Non New Zealand Students Training

Students who are not resident in New Zealand should note that the B1900 type rating is issued under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority approvals.  It is strongly recommended that you check to ensure that the rating will be recognized by your local aviation authority.  The rating is recorded in the pilot’s logbook but Flight Test New Zealand cannot endorse a non New Zealand CAA issued license.   The alternative is for the student to hold a New Zealand licence.  Students should refer to Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand website (go to “Pilots” page) for details of the requirements to hold a New Zealand license.

Holders of Australian pilot licences can apply for a NZ licence under the TTMRA. Refer here for TTMRA details on the CAA website.

Allow a minimum of 14 days in New Zealand to allow for weather and/or other unforeseen delays. It is recommended to allow 21 days for Visa applications.
